Brook, Indiana Fire Chief Kyle Conrad reports a barn fire (Tuesday) in Newton County was “suspicious.” Conrad says it was a a total loss. There was no injury.

The Brook Fire Department answered the call about 1 pm. Mutual aid came from Goodland, Morocco and Kentland.
Firefighters were at the scene about 2 and a-half hours. That was at 10827 S. State Road 55.

The farm is operated by Mark and Marcella Meyer of Brook. The barn remained standing but was a total loss.

Conrad ruled the cause as “undetermined but suspicious.”
