Firefighters responded to an explosion and fire at Belson Steel Center Scrap (Saturday) morning.

Motorists were asked to avoid the busy Saturday traffic on Illinois Route 50. The fire began in a scrap pile. Firemen used an aerial truck and crane to reach the fire’s hot spots.

No injury was reported.
