There was heightened police presence (Thursday) in the Benton Central School Corporation after a threat was reported toward the Junior-Senior High School. The Superintendent’s Office reports a student who made the online threat has been suspended.
Benton County Sheriff’s Police were called to investigate. School officials learned of the threat Wednesday afternoon. Superintendent Gregg Hoover said the threat was directed at the school, not an individual.
The school corporation website released a statement concerning the incident:
The school corporation appreciates the students and staff that came forward with this information: The students have been taught “See Something, Say Something” and this contributed greatly to identifying this threat.
