Big R cuts the ribbon on grand re-opening

WATSEKA -- Big R owner Jerry Gibbs says “we learn from every store.” And that list of Big R stores grows with new and more opportunities.

The parent-store in Watseka is celebrating its grand re-opening this weekend. The bright-remodeled store-front --- the former Wal-Mart building on Route 24 East --- proudly displays the Big R logo and colors.

It was 49 years ago when the store surfaced in Watseka. That’s when Bill & Pat Crabtree opened the business. Today, there’s 16 stores in Illinois and Indiana. Nine stores are in Illinois, including Gibson City, Danville, Tilton, Pontiac and Morris.

The new store offers much more display space and parking.
