Body of missing fisherman found in Grundy County

One of two missing fishermen swept away in the Kankakee River early this month was found yesterday (Tues) in the Illinois River in Grundy County. The body of 42-year-old William Veasley of Matteson was identified by Grundy County Coroner John Callahan. The discovery was made by employees at the Dresden Lock & Dam along the Illinois River.

Authorities report Veasley was one of two men fishing May 7 on the Kankakee River at the Washington Avenue Bridge when their boat capsized. Kankakee Fire and other river rescue teams spent days searching for the pair. The name of the other person has not been identified.
