Bond set at $75,000 for Danville pair after 4 pounds of pot found during traffic stop

Two Danville men remain jailed...with another man still on the run ... after police in Iroquois County found 4 pounds of suspected marijuana and $750 cash in their vehicle.

It was a traffic stop near Milford Sunday that led to the arrests of 30-year-old Terrance Liggins and 27-year-old Jeffery Lee. Iroquois County Sheriff's Police stopped the vehicle driven by Liggins on Route 1 near County Road 1050 North.

During the stop, the deputy noticed a strong odor of cannabis coming from the vehicle. Lee and an unidentified man were passengers.

After the deputy asked the trio to exit the vehicle, the unknown man handed a small plastic bag of suspected cannabis to the deputy. Moments later, he grabbed a brown paper bag with unknown contents from the front seat of the vehicle, then fled on foot.

The deputy remained with Liggins and Lee and radioed for assistance. Moments later, other deputies arrived to search for the man, who was unable to be located.
Meanwhile, a search of the vehicle led to police finding $750 in cash and four plastic bags, each containing 1 pound of suspected cannabis.

Lee and Liggins face a felony charge of manufacture/delivery of cannabis. Police report both men denied knowing the other man's identity. Police are following leads with the assistance of the Danville Police Department.
