A 49-year-old woman is dead following a house fire in Bourbonnais Monday night. The body was found after a fire destroyed a home in the 200 block of Barrington Lane.

Firefighters from 10 departments battled flames and smoke for about an hour. The State Fire Marshall is investigating. An autopsy is scheduled.

Bourbonnais Fire Chief Ed St. Louis said Kristina Thomas’ body was discovered when firemen were looking over the ruins. Two other people escaped the flames. Kankakee County Coroner Bob Gessner pronounced her dead at the scene at 8:31 p.m.
