Bourbonnais man killed in Michigan City, IN crash

Indiana State Police investigated a fatal crash in Michigan City (IN) that claimed the life of a Bourbonnais man. 18-year-old Grant Grable was the victim who died when he crashed his vehicle into a brick wall…after fleeing from a traffic stop.

Police initiated a traffic stop when the Grable vehicle was eastbound in the westbound lanes of Michigan Blvd. The driver refused to stop and led police on a low-speed pursuit through city streets. Police said he then accelerated thru an intersection, then struck concrete pillars that are a barrier to Ames Field. Police said the vehicle then went airborne into a brick wall of the bleacherscoming to rest under the bleachers.

The victim had to be extricated from the vehicle. Life-saving measures were performed but thedriver was declared dead at the scene by the LaPorte County Coroner.
Michigan City Police and Fire and the IN State Police were all involved.
