Braidwood Man sent to prison for possession of drugs

A 21-year-old Braidwood man will spend the next year behind bars. Matthew Garrelts pleaded guilty to unlawful possession of prescription-medication. He was sentenced to one year in prison for the class 4 felony.

In September of 2016, Garrelts was indicted by a Grundy County grand jury for unlawful possession of a controlled substance, a class four felony and unlawful possession of cannabis with the intent to deliver, a class three felony.

Garrelts also pleaded guilty to DUI and was placed on two years conditional discharge and must pay over $1,000 in fines.
