Braidwood Nuclear Plant idled for Scheduled Work

Operators removed Braidwood Nuclear Power Station Unit One from service early Monday morning for a planned refueling outage. While the unit is offline, technicians will be replacing nearly one-third of the reactor's fuel, as well as performing thousands of inspections and maintenance activities to keep the unit running safely and effectively for another two years.

Refueling outages usually happen every 18 months, with the work being completed by more than 12-hundred supplemental workers and 800 permanent employees.
