Indiana Fire Chief Kyle Conrad has been recognized for his 40 years of service on the Brook-Iroquois Township Fire Department. And the recent award ceremony (Feb 28) came when Indiana State Fire Marshal Steve Jones paid a visit to the local department in Brook, IN.
The Meritorious Service Award was presented to Chief Kyle D. Conrad, who has served over 40 years on the department. Jones said it’s one of the highest awards given by the Fire Marshal’s Office. Jones offered his congratulations to Chief Conrad, adding he’s more than deserving of this award.
It was pointed out, Chief Conrad has answered emergency calls morning and night, and has spent countless hours on meetings and training sessions.
Conrad responded, calling it all a very humbling experience and after his fear subsided wondering why (the hell) the State Fire Marshall was sitting in his fire station,… ? Conrad said, “I may have the years under my belt, but our successes are due to all the men and women, past and present, who have served as my teammates all these years “ Conrad added, “I’m a pretty lucky chief and I’m grateful and thankful for all of them.”
