Brook, Indiana man sentenced for bank fraud

A former Newton County banker has been sentenced to more than six years in prison.

46-year-old Mark Warne of Brook devised a scheme to defraud Community State Bank. Court records show he was serving as bank president.

Prosecutors said the case involved the bank issuing more than $6 million in fraudulent loans.

Warne was sentenced (Thursday) to 78 months in prison and then two-years supervised release. The court order also calls for payment of more than $3.4 million in restitution. The prison term begins in December.
