Budget matters occupy Iroquois County Board

The state of Illinois' budget problem...or the lack of a budget...is spilling into the laps of local officials. County government and municipal leaders and even private agencies are having trouble finalizing their budget as they wait for state reimbursements.

The Iroquois County Board learned the Finance department was able to work with department heads to decrease and earlier-reported deficit and find a 48% increase in revenues. The General Fund gained $180,000.

Expenses were reduced by 52%.

MFT reimbursements, gaming reveneus and even lottery payouts have all been delayed due to the budget stalemate in Springfield.
