A Monticello, IN garage caught fire when a man was burning brush near his residence.

Firefighters responded to the garage fire Wednesday around 5:30 pm. The owner Patrick Brunette received minor burns while attempting to extinguish the blaze. He refused treatment on scene and was advised to seek medical treatment.
Officials said moderate damage was done to the garage and its contents.

Monticello Fire Department received additional assistance from the Idaville and Reynolds fire departments.

Fire officials advise against open burning to eliminate brush.
