Second and third graders in Iroquois County look forward to learning all about about safety techniques and how to get through emergency situations.  They learn thru a popular program -- Camp 9-1-1. 

Wednesday, Camp 9-1-1 marks its 11th year of spending time with the students teaching them how to react to emergency situations; knowledge it's hoped, they'll keep for a liftime.

This year's Camp 9-1-1 has a focus on Fire safety.

9-1-1 Coordinator Nita Dubble  says over the last 10 years, students have used the safety techniques in real life situations.

Several emergency response agencies participate by setting up learning centers for the students to visit, ask questions and run thru scenarious where they might call 9-1-1.  

Approximately 800 2nd and 3rd graders get a chance to attemd Camp 9-1-1.  

The sessions begin September 7th for 2nd graders at Wanda Kendall School in Watseka. 

September 8th at Wanda Kendall for 3rd graders.

September 9th at Crescent City

September 13th at St. Paul's in Woodworth

September 14th -- Milford schools

September 15th - Iroquois West 2nd grade in Gilman

September 16th - Iroquois West 3rd grade in Gilman

September 21st - Donovan

September 22nd - St. John's in Buckley

September 23rd - Cissna Park

September 28th - Chebanse 2nd grade

September 29 - Chebanse 3rd grade

Participating agencies include Iroquois Memorial Hospital, 9-1-1, Local FFA chapters, Illinois State Police, Iroquois County Public Health, Local Fire Departments, Local Ambulance Services.
