In just 31 days since legal pot sales began in Illinois, there was nearly $40 million sold. State government officials say that was from the sale of over 970,000 items. Taxes on such sales mostly go to the state’s general revenue fund, but one of every four dollars collected goes to a program granting dollars to nonprofits in certain areas of the state.
