Slick road conditions contributed to several area traffic accidents early today in Illiana. A freezing rain and snow posed slippery conditions, especially on bridge decks and entrance/ exit ramps.

Illinois State Police reported the southbound lanes of I-57 at Clifton were closed before 6 am due to one accident. Other sections of the interstate, near Bradley and Manteno, also led to alerts for motorists.

The snowfall is expected to continue today, tonight and tomorrow. Little accumulation is likely, but below freezing temperatures and wind gusts will cause problems too.
