Newton County Sheriff’s Police are investigating a crash that killed a 40-year-old Cedar Lake, Indiana man (Tuesday). Timothy Mueller was pronounced dead at the scene (by the Newton County Coroner) after his vehicle struck another Jeep and then rolled several times. The driver of the Jeep was not injured.

The crash happened just before 12:30 pm. Several 911 callers alerted police of an erratic driver southbound on U-S 41. Caller said the driver hit construction barrels in Lake County and was all over the roadway. While police were enroute, another 911 caller reported Mueller’s vehicle had hit the JEEP at the intersection of State Road 10 and U-S 41. Mueller was found pinned under the vehicle in a ditch.

Toxicology tests are pending.
