Iroquois County Girls basketball making its mark again. The Central Comets at Clifton and the Cissna Park Timbervolves basketball teams are advancing to IHSA Sectional play next week.

Central won its own 2A Regional title Thursday night with a 42-35 win over PBL. It was the Comets first Regional championship in 17 years.

The Comets (23-8) advance to play Bloomington Central Catholic Tuesday at the St. Thomas More Sectional. Game time is 6 pm.

At the 1A Regional at Armstrong, Cissna Park won its fourth straight Regional title defeating Ridgeview 45-35. The T’wolves (22-7) next meet Decatur St. Teresa (20-8) at the Lexington Sectional Tuesday at 6 pm.

In Oakwood Thursday night, Watseka’s season ended with a 55-39 loss to Oakwood.
