Three Iroquois County elected office-holders have publicly made it official – they will seek re-election in 2016.
County Coroner Bill Cheatum, State's Attorney Jim Devine, and Circuit Clerk Lisa Hines will appear on the March Republican Primary ballot.
Devine has been the county prosecutor since 2001. He said he enjoys the job, wants the job and looks forward to working for the people of Iroquois County.
He recognized his assistants, Alex O'Brien and Kara Macz, for the outstanding work they do in the state's attorney's office. Devine said 'the job is that much better when you surround yourself with good, professional people.'
Devine also told the gathering at the Republican Women's Club Fall Luncheon 'the GOP women are a true indication of what the Republican party is all about.' He said the elected office-holders are very supportive of what the club is all about.
Cheatum will seek his fourth term as Coroner. He was first appointed to the job in 2002 to fill a vacancy when then-Coroner Eldon Sprau was elected Sheriff. Cheatum said he enjoys working for the people of Iroquois County.
Lisa Hines of Cissna Park has held the Circuit Clerk's office since 2008. She's seeking her 3rd term. Hines has been an employee in the office for 25 years, having served as First-Deputy Assistant prior to being elected.
