Chebanse man suffers life-threatening injuries in Watseka altercation

The Watseka Police Department is investigating a downtown altercation that leaves a Chebanse man hospitalized with life-threatening injuries. The un-identified victim is at Carle Hospital in Urbana having suffered a severe head injury.

A 21-year-old Watseka man faces an aggravated battery charge stemming from the alleged altercation.  Gregory Eisermann was arrested after polcie questioned witnesses about the alleged altercation outside a local bar Monday night.

Eisermann is jailed in Iroquois County.  he's also charged with possession of a controlled substance.

Interim Police Chief Jeremy Douglas issued a statement (Tuesday) that officers answered a call at 10:30 pm to a business parking lot on W. Walnut Street.  A man was found unresponsive lying on the ground. 

Ambulance personnel took the 55-year-old Chebanse man to Iroquois Memorial Hospital.  The severe head injury led to his transfer to Urbana.
