(Springfield, IL) -- After a 16-million-dollar renovation, the Illinois Supreme Court building has been officially reopened. The rededication Monday ends a year on the road for the Supreme Court justices, who met mostly in Chicago for the past year, but also held a session at the historic courthouse in Ottawa. A new commemorative plaque has been placed on the building in Springfield, next to the original plaque from the 1908 dedication.
Chief Justice Rita Garman of Danville and former Illinois Governor Jim Thompson were among the notables who were part of the re-dedication event. {Metro News}
