Judges selected the best parade entries during the annual Lighted Christmas Parade in Watseka Friday evening. The City of Watseka and Watseka Area Chamber of Commerce hosted the event, while Santa Claus was ushered into town for the holiday season. The Watseka Family Festival committee complimented the parade with its 2nd annual Winterfest event, several holiday activities at the First Trust parking lot downtown. Watseka Mayor John Allhands lit the Christmas Tree outside the downtown 'Jeremy Sherman' Post Office.
Toys for Tots leaders earned the Best Children's Unit in the parade. Best Walking Unit went to the VSHOC Cadets. Best Float was awarded to the Watseka Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram dealership. Iroquois Memorial Hospital showed off the Best Use of Theme - "Winter Wonderland." Watseka Public Works displayed the Best Use of Lights. Best Religious Entry went to The Myles Revolution, and the Gilman Fire Department was the top entry for Best Decorated Emergency Vehicle.
