A 54-year-old Cissna Park man was killed when his farm tractor collided with a large truck Wednesday in Iroquois County.

Vermilion County Coroner Peggy Johnson identified Mark S. Schmid. He was pronounced dead just after 4 pm at Carle Hoopeston Regional Hospital.

The other driver was 50-year-old Darrin Kregel of Crescent City. He was air-lifted to Carle Hospital in Urbana. Kregel was listed in stable condition.

The collision happened at the intersection of 300 North and 1300 East in rural Cissna Park. Iroquois County Sheriff’s Police reported Schmid was operating an Ag-Chem sprayer northbound on 1300E. Kregel was westbound on 330N driving a truck when they collided in the intersection.

The crash is under investigation. An autopsy was scheduled.
