The Warriors and Timberwolves were winners in Sectional volleyball action Tuesday. Watseka was a straight-set winner over Chicago Catalyst-Maria at the 2A Bishop McNamara finals. Cissna Park defeated Stewardson-Strasburg at the 1A Sectional at Decatur Lutheran.
The Lady Dragons of Grant Park not as fortunate. Their undefeated season came to an end with a two-set loss to Kewanee-Wethersfield at Streator-Woodland. The Dragons went into the Sectional with a 32-0 mark.
Coach Josh Landon's Timberwolves used an 8-0 run midway thru the first set to propel to a 25-20 win. Cissna Park won the send set 29-27.
Anna Kaeb had a double-double with a team-high 15 digs and 27 assists. Addison Stoller recoded 11 kills while Sam Hasselbring and Karli Boyle each had six kills.
The 30-5-1 T'wolves advance to the finals Thursday against Blue Ridge. The Knights were 25-20, 25-13 winners over Chrisman.
Watseka coach Krista Pufahl says her team has hit its stride. "We're playing our best, right now," Pufahl said after her Warriors won in a rout over Catalyst-Maria 25-5 and 25-7.
McKensie Hagen had 10 kills and four aces. Katie Kidwell and Kenzie Crabtree each had five kills. Emily Bunting added 18 assists.
Watseka will meet Wilmington in the championship Thursday at McNamara.
