Several reports of coyotes being seen in residential neighborhoods has police and conservation officials to be aware.

Coyotes typically avoid people but flocks of coyotes will prey on pets. And pet-owners are advised NOT to leave their pets unattended.

A spokesperson at the Perry Farm in Bourbonnais said the extreme cold and snow-cover finds the coyotes looking for food beyond their normal surroundings.

There have been reports of coyotes being seen in-and-around Watseka, Crescent City, Bradley and Bourbonnais.
