The Ford County town of Roberts is asking its residents not to use any water. An emergency notice to cease water use immediately was issued Monday after the town’s primary water well failed. There is no backup well available.
Village President Matt Vaughan warned that the water tower would be “dry within 24 hours” with continued water use. With the backup well not operating, Vaughn asked residents to “cease water use immediately.”
Water supplies are being brought in by tanker and drinking water is also being delivered. Vaughn said the Illinois Water Association is working with the community to find solutions. Emergency supplies and repairs will take some time. Patience is appreciated.
Assistance is also being provided by officials in Paxton and Gibson City.
