Clean-up underway in Cissna Park after flooding from storm

Roads were closed, school closed, and residents in Cissna Park were scrambling Monday as flood waters climbed into basements, homes and garages. The usual flood waters from Mud Creek were intense…as the flood situation appeared worse than people are used to seeing.  Some residents said they’ve experienced worse, but this flood came in a hurry and so un-expected. Most all roads leading in and out of Cissna Park were covered in water.

The heavy rain Sunday forced the streams from their banks. Routes 45 and 49 were closed due to flooding. Barricades are in place. Other communities are also fighting off the flood waters. Rankin had flooded roads and yards. Many of the usual flooded roads were under water Monday.  Milford area roads were barricaded to protect travelers.

Route 45 between Buckley and Onarga, Old Route 45 in the Clifton-Chebanse area was another part of Iroquois County dealing with the flood.

Several inches of water covered yards, the water was within a few feet of getting into homes.

In FORD COUNTY …..Gibson City was bracing for another round of flood waters. The community is still cleaning up from the record-flood there, in August.

The flood advisory was upgraded Monday to a Warning. The NWS has the warning in place until late Wednesday morning. Milford roads were barricaded. That community, Watseka and others could yet see rising waters in the next few days.
