Closing arguments expected in Sullivan murder trial

The prosecution is resting its case; the defense team to present its side in the case of two Bradley police officers who were shot in-the-line-of-duty while answering a call to barking dogs in a vehicle.

It was December 29, 2021when the shooting occurred, killing Police Sgt. Marlene Rittmanic and seriously wounded her partner, Tyler Bailey. Charged with murder and attempted murder is Darius Sullivan.

He’s standing trial in a Kankakee Courtroom. Sullivan told the Court (Wednesday) “No, I’m good” when asked if he plans testify in his own defense.

The trial resumes today (Thursday)…the defense taking the lead.

Kankakee County Public Defender Ed Petuic represents Sullivan. County State’s Attorney Jim Rowe is the prosecutor.
