Coal City tornado victims’ line up for assistance

Citizens in Grundy County are ready to receive financial pay-outs from a Long Term Recovery Committee for damages from the summer tornado in Coal City.

The Community Foundation of Grundy County has $299, 200 in a fund. Money will be distributed to affected residents beginning in October. Families need to be registered to be eligible for any funds.

The community finance director reports even though there were more than 800 property sites damaged or destroyed, fewer than 400 people have registered for assistance. There's an application deadline of October 2 for making the list to share in a monetary distribution.
