Colder weather to settle in this week

The immediate area escaped the weekend snow storm. Just a couple of inches hit Saturday with a mix of rain and snow Sunday. The brunt of the weather hit northern and western parts of Illinois.

Reports of seven, nine and even 11 inches fell in northern sections of the state. Northwest Indiana also recorded upwards of eight to 10 inches. Chicago’s airports reported several delayed flights.

The heavy snow missed Illiana, but much colder conditions this week are likely. Highs will only reach the teens to low 20s by mid-week.

The next chance of accumulating snow locally appears to be Friday into Friday night.
