Collection program benefits Toys for Tots

Momence resident Amanda Morellas and friends stepped up big-time to help make Christmas special for children in need. A five-week donation drive raised $28-hundred dollars that was delivered to the Toys for Tots program. As a result, at least 325 families will benefit from the holiday-gesture of Morellas and her friends.

Nine Toys for Tots boxes, filled with 1,000 toys & gifts, were dropped off at the Northfield Square Mall. The effort to help Toys for Tots was engineered by Morellas and her son, Ben, and Annie Frane and her son, Hayden. Donations from family and friends… Morellas said… makes it all happen. And, she said, it feels good.

Morellas is a veteran UPS employee. Friends along her route are always willing to help. She credits everyone who contributes for making the effort so rewarding.

Morellas is a regular when it comes to spreading good-will. She says her friends are so willing to join the efforts to help others…. church groups, food pantry donations, and hospital employees have all been recipients of the generosity.

Other community programs are also stepping up to assist Toys for Tots. Donation sites can be found online at www.toysfortots.org
