Lutheran Church Charities (LCC) is bringing a new ministry to Iroquois County.
Our Savior Lutheran Church in Milford in cooperation with Lutheran Church Charities introduces the LCC K-9 Comfort Dog Ministry. It’s a national ministry utilizing the unique skills of dogs to open opportunities to interact with people in communities across the country.
Our Savior Lutheran will receive its new Comfort Dog in a “Passing of the Leash” ceremony scheduled for the church service Sunday (February 12) at 9 am.
Our Savior Lutheran’s Sunday service is always aired on 94.1 WGFA.
The LCC Comfort Dogs, especially Golden Retrievers, are trained service animals that provide a bridge for compassionate ministry to take place. The animal initiate a calm atmosphere that lifts spirits, relieves grief and sparks memories even in the most traumatic of situations.
The Comfort Dog will be available for school assemblies, nursing home visits, special presentations, festivals and celebrations. The ministry relies heavily on donations and grants for funding.
