A crash involving an SUV and a semi in a Benton County construction zone Monday injured a Lafayette man.

It happened around 2:40 pm on U.S. 41 near Earl Park.
Indiana State Police reported a semi had slowed down in the construction zone. An SUV driven by 35-year-old Trent Yates slammed into the back of the semi.

The SUV ended up in a ditch and Yates had to be extricated. He was airlifted to an Illinois hospital. The extent of injury was unknown.

The driver of the semi was not injured.
