Convicted murderer escapes from Kankakee detention center, reward offered

An investigative team is at work in Kankakee trying to find answers as to how convicted-killer Kamron Taylor managed to escape from the Kankakee County Detention Center.

The 23-year-old, who was awaiting sentencing for murder, overpowered a corrections guard around 3 am this (Wed) morning. Taylor then took the guard's keys and his uniform and slipped away from the Jerome Combs Detention Center.

Sheriff Tim Bukowski says how the system was broken down is one of the questions authorities are trying to answer.
Surveillance video has been reviewed. The Sheriff said just how it happened and why are questions they need to find answers to.

Taylor is considered armed and dangerous. When convicted earlier this year, he tried to escape from the Kankakee County Courtroom. He was also convicted of armed robbery in Tennessee.

Police did locate a stolen vehicle Taylor was in on Lincoln Avenue in Kankakee. Anyone seeing Taylor should call 9-1-1. A $5,000 reward is offered leading to his arrest.
