Corn acres down, Soybeans up for 2015

Illinois farmers are expected to plant 11.7 million acres of corn this year, down two-percent from last year. It would be the lowest acreage planted in corn in the state since 2006. Meanwhile, soybean planting in Illinois is expected to rise by one-percent to 9.90 million acres.

The numbers were released by the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
