It's all about protecting the citizens of Iroquois County; looking out for their best interests. That's the attitude of local officials in the approval of state-required ordinances for Solar, Wind and Battery Storage within Iroquois County.
The Iroquois County Board members gave their approval to ordinances to help regulate applications and placement of such operations.
"The State has already put statutes in place for renewable energy. It's allowable at the state level. What we're doing is protecting the rights and safety of our citizens," says Doug Geiger, Committee Chairman for Tax & Zoning for the Board. "We've implemented some of the threshholds for applicants interested in setting up shop in the county.'
Board Chairman Paul Ducat said this vote is not about yes or no on whether we favor such projects, but instead, "saying we approve the regulations for companies to meet."
The County's Zoning Board of Appeals also approved the three separate ordinances.
