County Health Department Flu Clinics start this week…

The Iroquois, Ford, Vermilion, Kankakee and Livingston County Health Departments have set up multiple clinics this fall so that people can be vaccinated early against seasonal flu.

County websites have posted the schedule and locations for clinics, besides the walk-in availability at local offices. Info is available by calling local health officials.

The Center for Disease Control (CDC) recommends that flu vaccinations begin as soon as vaccine is available.

The Center for Disease Control (CDC) recommends for the 2018-2019 flu season that everyone 6 months and older receive their annual flu shot. According to the CDC, immunity from the flu shot takes about two weeks to build and lasts up to 12 months. Because immunity does wane over time, the CDC recommends getting a flu shot annually.
