Court ruling blocks school mask, vaccine mandates

A judge in Sangamon County Friday issued a temporary restraining order preventing school districts from requiring students to wear masks in classrooms.  The ruling from Circuit Judge Raylene Grischow also states Governor JB Pritizker overstrepped his legal authority with a mask mandate.  The judge further states, several more of Pritizker's emergency orders to combat the spread of COVID-19 are "null and void."

The plan will be appealed.

Area school superintendents are calling the court ruling ‘an ever-evolving situation,' with so many questions as to what do we do next ?
Some districts held special meetings over the weekend, others will meet in special session this week as they scramble to find answers.
Some districts are not making changes to their rules regarding masking. Others have switched back to remote-learning to avoid the in-house mask-wearing rules.
