Dangerous Cold Temperatures Expected This Weekend

Extreme dangerously cold temperatures are expected in the WGFA-listening area this week. Emergency room doctors recommend caution, advising the public that frostbite and hypothermia can settle in just a few minutes.

The National Weather Service said an extreme cold warning will start at 3 am Friday and run until noon on Friday. Weather officials say the wind chills could be as low as 35 degrees below zero. The dangerously cold wind chills could cause frostbite on exposed skin in as little as 10 minutes.

Officials urge residents to dress in several layers including a hat, face mask, and gloves if you must go outside. Avoid long stays outside. Also, check on older family, friends, and neighbors. Keep pets indoors as much as possible.
