Danville 18-year-old charged with involuntary manslaughter after friend fatally shot

A Danville 18-year-old is facing preliminary charges of involuntary manslaughter and aggravated battery with a firearm in the fatal shooting of his 19-year-old friend over the weekend.

Vermilion County Sheriff’s Police report the 18-year-old was arrested, appeared in bond court and was released after posting 10 percent of his $250,000 bond.
Names of both the suspect and the victim have not yet been released.

Police said the shooting occurred shortly before 2 a.m. Saturday in a house in the 800 block of Warrington Avenue, just west of Danville.

Illinois State Police are assisting the sheriff’s department in the investigation. The Vermilion County Coroner’s Office is also investigating the death.
