McLane Midwest Distribution Services in Danville was hit by a three-alarm fire Friday night.
The fire was inside a cool storage space where food products and cups were stacked on pallets. A fire department spokesman said a concrete wall kept the flames contained. Two forklifts were damaged. Two firefighters were injured but refused medical treatment.
Damage to the building was estimated at $200-thousand dollars and damages to contents have been estimated at $400-thousand dollars. The cause of the fire remains under investigation. The Illinois State Fire Marshal is assisting.
The McLane Midwest Distribution Service is one of the largest supply chain services, providing grocery products to convenience stores and other food services across a large section the central United States.
