20-year-old Ruben Portugal of Danville is jailed for Thursday’s robbery of the First Midwest Bank. The Danville facility was robbed, according to police reports, about 11:30 am.

Portugal was arrested on preliminary charges of armed robbery and attempted vehicle hijacking following the robbery. He was taken into custody without incident after employees and witnesses gave police a description of a man who demanded money and fled. Portugal allegedly tried to then hijack a woman’s vehicle.
