Danville man charged in fatal shooting

An 18-year-old Danville man faces formal charges of involuntary manslaughter and reckless discharge of a firearm in the weekend fatal shooting of his friend just west of Danville.

Vermilion County State's Attorney Jacqueline Lacy filed the felony charges against Christopher Sean Stanley in the death of 19-year-old Austin R. Camareno of Danville.

Stanley was also charged with reckless conduct and not having a firearm owner's identification card.

Sheriff investigators said the shooting occurred shortly before 2 a.m. Saturday at a residence in the 800 block of Warrington Avenue.

Mr. Camareno was taken by a private vehicle to OSF Sacred Heart Medical Center in Danville, where he was pronounced dead.

Sheriff's investigators said Stanley and Mr. Camareno were friends. Mr. Camareno was a 2018 graduate of Schlarman Academy.

 

Rt. 45 blocked by overturned semi in Kankakee County --


Traffic was detoured in Kankakee County today (Wed) when a semi and another vehicle collided on Route 45/52 at County Road 6000 N in Bourbonnais.
At least one injury was reported. Police reported the southbound lane of Route 45 was blocked, slowing traffic on 6000 as well.
