Hunters in Illinois harvested a preliminary total of 54,661 deer during the first weekend of the Illinois firearm deer season between Nov. 22-24. That is more than a thousand more than in the two previous years. The highest total of deer harvested was in Adams County, followed by Jefferson and Jackson counties. Illinois' seven-day firearm deer season will conclude this upcoming weekend Dec. 5-8.
