Illinois’ firearm deer season started off with a bang. Just how much of a bang isn’t yet known. The Illinois Department of Natural Resources said they’ll soon have official tallies of how many deer were harvested during the first full weekend of firearm deer season.
The next hunting window is Nov. 29 through Dec. 2.
Officials urge not just firearm safety, but also tree stand safety.
HOLIDAY WEEK ---
It’s a short week this week with Thanksgiving on Thursday. Many state government offices will be closed Thursday and Friday for the holiday. Next month for Christmas, which also falls on a Thursday, government offices are only closed on the Christmas day, not the subsequent Friday. All together this year, including the recent election, most state employees get 13 paid holidays. The national average for all full-time employees is 7.6 days.
