A heating unit on the rooftop of the Denny's Restaurant in Bourbonnais caused a fire, alerting firefighters this (Fri) morning. The restaurant was temporarily closed. There was no injury.
Firemen were alerted to 1303 N. State Route 50 at Armour Road after receiving reports of a smell of smoke in the building.
Bourbonnais Fire Chief Ed St. Louis said the cause is being investigated. He said the rooftop was charred and an air-handler will have to be removed in order to make repairs. The Kankakee County Health Department has been notified.
The restaurant will remain temporarily closed.
