Deputy Chief Boness retiring

The Kankakee City Fire Department is announcing the upcoming retirement of Deputy Chief Eric Boness.  He ends 30 years of service on January 16.  The Chebanse resident worfked his way up the ranks over his 30-year career, first hired in December 1990.  Boness helped start the county's Haz-Mat Team and successfully led that team for several years.  He also developed the Officer Training Program which includes the Blue Card Incident Command System, a procedure still used throughout all departments within Kankakee County. Current Fire Chief Damon Schuldt said Boness has been a leader and a great teacher; "his committtment to the department is certainly appreciated.
