A residential fire in Kankakee Wednesday night did an estimated $10 – 15,000 in damage. A dog did perish in the fire. No other injury, according to Fire Chief Damon Schuldt.
The chief reported the fire appears to be accidental. One of the occupants returned home to find smoke in the house. Firemen answered the call about 8 pm in the 400-block of E. Water Street. Moderate damage was reported to the inside of the house.
5 buildings destroyed in Delphi, In fire Wednesday –
What was called a “large structure fire” closed several roads and destroyed five buildings in Delphi, Indiana early Wednesday. No injury was reported. Carroll County Sheriff’s Police said the routes were open to traffic later in the day. Five out-buildings and six cars were lost in the blaze.
Delphi officials believe it started in a chicken coop, spread to a garage, two sheds and then a house. A nearby church was also dealing with heat damage. The homeowner and his son escaped the fire, which broke out at 4:40 am.
