Domestic issue results in Indiana shooting

A 36-year-old woman was in custody after a reported shooting in Newton County, Indiana Friday. Charges were being reviewed by the prosecutor's office.

Now charged with aggravated battery is 36-year-old Kristal Miller of Rensselaer. Additional charges are pending.

Sheriff's Police responded to a rural residence near Mt. Ayr. The investigation revealed 38-year-old Lawrence Zmigrocki of Hammond had gone to a neighbor's house to report he had been shot twice by a female during some kind of altercation. He allegedly said he was shot by his girlfriend.

Zmigrocki was taken by Newton County Ambulance to Riverside Hospital. He was reported in stable condition.

The sheriff's department was assisted by Brook, Morocco and Kentland Police. Indiana State Police also responded.
